Clubland Live 2 - Aberdeen

After months of careful planning Clubland Live 2 has begun. The Belfast gig was so sold out that even we couldn't get tickets so we joined it on day two in Aberdeen, the UK's answer to Dubai complete with sun, sand, sea and oil - the only difference being that it's currently -3 degrees instead of +30, the ground is solid with frost during daylight and the horizon is capped with snow.

The crew were already well ahead of us after catching the ferry overnight and driving through the small hours from Stranraer and across Scotland up to Aberdeen. The artists, DJs and dancers flew in and joined up with the tour buses which will take us around the UK over the next week.

The lineup isn't the only difference from the first tour, the production has evolved and the stage now has multiple levels, a complete set, video wall backdrop, flame jets, fire eaters, angle grinders, mirrors, lasers and all sorts of other special effects type madness. As a result the show looks incredibly different and takes the event to a whole new level.

The artists sets are also a world away from last time visually, the video wall has been used to full effect and with dancers fire eating, dancing on stilts and attacking themselves with power tools the on stage action really is a sight to behold and as last time is being assisted by flying lights provided by the glow stick artillery squad in the pit.

I won't spoil the lineup for those of you that are coming to one of the gigs over the next week but rest assured the show is brilliant and features all the big hit dance tracks from this year, a selection of the biggest Clubland Classix and a raft of new material, some of which is getting as a big a reaction as the older tracks.

Despite the freezing weather the queue's were round the block and full of the usual crazy outfit well over an hour before the venue opened and as soon as the first punters had entered and were let through the inner cordon the stampede for the pit wall saw the crowd 50 deep from the front of the stage in a matter of seconds. The crowd was the typical mix of young and old alike, all dancing together and generally 'avin it'.

The show kicked off a 7.30 with the video intro that saw the cheers and arms going up into the air where they pretty much remained solidly until the finale of Scooters encore. There's a gallery below so you can get a flavour of the atmosphere and we are also have a camera crew filming at every venue on the tour this time so some footage will be on Clubland TV once it's all been edited and put together.
