So after the artists had a day at home to rest and recover from the past week and we had a day back in the office we got back on the road again and continued the journey southwards and into Yorkshire for the start of week 2 of the tour at the Sheffield Hallam Arena.
We didn't do a gig in Yorkshire last year and the area is a bit of a strange place in terms of arenas as Leeds, by far and away the biggest city and for reasons best known to itself doesn't yet have one.
The music though is as big in Yorkshire as it is all over the country. Although cities like Leeds and Sheffield and better known for their cooler clubs which tend to play a lot of specialist music like house and bassline the mainstream clubs in all the major towns and cities have commercial dance as their foundation and so it was no great surprise to see thousands of people turn out to the Hallam Arena for the tour.
Every area we go to has its own character. Ultimately the tour is the same lineup and pretty much the same running order in every town, but the crowd and the venues personalise each gig and make every date unique in one way or another.
Styles mania continued south into Yorkshire with the roar going up when Darren was introduced pretty much overwhelming the level of the PA and if it wasn't for gravity the girls on the pit wall would have been leaping onto the stage. Ultrabeat and Darren were also joined on stage for the first time on the tour by a bit of assistance in the form of hardcore legend MC Whizzkid.
Scooters dramatic intro had another suitably dramatic pause at the start which had the crowd in raptures again and the encore of Logical Song blew the place to bits.
After the show everyone was sat around having a quiet drink when some rather filthy house music started up in one of the dressing rooms next door to the green room. It could only be coming from one place and so we went to investigate and found, true to form, HP on the decks and a party going on in Scooters dressing room where it continued until 1am.
More tomorrow from Birmingham, I've just 'popped' down to London for the day so i'll be going back up to Birmingham tonight and then onto the big one, the Manchester MEN early on Thursday morning.
